BILLING AND CLAIMS SPECIALIST
A Billing and Claims Specialist plays a critical role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate claim submission, timely payment processing, and proper resolution of billing issues. This role works closely with insurance carriers, providers, and internal teams to manage claims from submission through payment, reduce denials, and maintain compliant and accurate billing records. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with US healthcare billing and claims processes and is comfortable handling payer communications.

Prepare, review, and submit clean claims (electronic and paper) to payers, ensuring accurate patient and insurance information

Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and required documentation prior to claim submission

Investigate, follow up on, and appeal denied or underpaid claims by contacting insurance carriers

Post payments, adjustments, and contractual allowances accurately and reconcile accounts

Respond to billing inquiries, explain statements clearly, and assist with payment plans when needed

Identify and resolve billing discrepancies to ensure timely reimbursement

Maintain accurate billing records, reports, and documentation for audits and compliance purposes

Ensure adherence to HIPAA guidelines, payer requirements, and billing regulations

Collaborate with coders, providers, and internal departments to ensure accurate documentation and coding

1 to 2 years of experience in US healthcare billing and claims management

Strong knowledge of US health insurance, billing processes, and claims lifecycle

Above-average written and verbal communication skills with a clear and neutral accent

Comfortable handling outbound and inbound calls with insurance carriers and patients

Tech-savvy with the ability to work across multiple systems and billing platforms

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to work independently while meeting accuracy and productivity standards
